G ENERAL: The French believe that something called terroir is responsible for imparting the greatest impact upon the quality and characteristics of fine wine. It is beyond dispute that the region -- on both a grand and micro scale -- has a very real impact upon the wines produced in those regions. This series of classes are dedicated to investigating and experiencing wines from distinct wine producing regions.R EGIONAL WINE CLASSES: Consult the Calendar of Events for upcoming dates and topics. Have you ever wanted to attend a tasting or a class on California Cabs?...or perhaps you want to learn about Rhone Reds, or German Rieslings...but have no clue where to begin. This series of classes are dedicated to this simple and focused method of learning. By tasting examples of wines from various regions, one region at a time, participants are able to learn the basic characteristics of the regional wines. Food pairing is discussed as each region is considered, as are the general impact of climate, and orientation upon wine and wine making. There is always a measure of history included in Regional Classes. It is always fun to listen to participants discuss their travels to distinct wine producing regions. All of this is part of leaning and enjoying the world of fine wine. This casual but thoughtful approach to wine tasing and education takes the intimidation-factor our of the mystic of wine. By considering each region individually, the complex is made simple. Mix all of this with a social format and the outcome includes new friends as well. Cheese, fruit, and bread are provided at all tastings. |
