The Planet of the Grapes is a truly unique wine bar and shop.
The concept is simple: Create a place where people can learn about,
taste and sample fine wine in Dalton Georgia -- while
enjoying the experience with others.
We have celebrated a remarkable level of success in this respect.
We take the anxiety out of learning about wine
by offering you personal attention every time you enter the shop. We
offer a series of introductory classes
to ease the transition into the wide world of wines. We teach
all about wine in simple terms, without pretentious airs. And we mix a
little social entertainment into the pot.
We conduct international wine tastings
-- often with V.I.P. guest speakers. We conduct private
tastings, and gourmet food and wine events. And as of January
2006, we have expanded our services to include a world class wine bar --
adding a little nightlife to historic downtown Dalton. Now you can enjoy
a glass of your favorite wine after a busy day (or week) at the office,
or as part of your downtown shopping experience. We offer gourmet bread
and cheese in the European style -- to round out the experience.
Finally, we offer all of this in a historic, warm, and distinct
atmosphere -- a combination that has attracted dignitaries, artists, and
state candidates to the Planet for their special events. We?ve moved our
living room to the Planet -- to make you feel at home. The result is a
relaxing, enjoyable and entertaining venue for a little fun with family
or friends.

Our special collection of wine is the star attraction. Years of tasting
and sampling have allowed us to filter out the junk from the jewels. The
collection is a virtual tour of the wine producing regions of the world
-- organized by region and grape varietal or blend. They are all there;
France, Germany, Italy, Austria, America, New Zealand, Chile, South
Africa, Spain, Portugal...and more. But don?t worry about swimming in
?isles and piles? as you might in a liquor store...the shop is organized
as a teaching shop, so everything is make simple. And don?t stress over
picking a wine ?Russian Roulette? style -- we are there to help you zero
in on what you will enjoy. We even offer samples on occasion to help the
process along.

We team up with local art galleries and local merchants to offer very

We are a couple of professionals: Gwynne is an accountant and I am an
architect. We took a passion and hobby and reached for a dream. The
outcome has exceeded our wildest expectations. Come join the fun with
